My Basketball Christmas Wish List
It is Christmas time!
Time to eat a whole lot, get completely smashed, count our blessings, and wish for better things to come. Being that my life is probably about 68.43% basketball, the only wishes that I could come up with has something to do with playing ball.
Hopefully Santa come come around on some of the items on my Christmas Wish List!
1. I wish my Suns stop sucking more than a vacuum cleaner.
This is getting really ridiculous already with how much my Phoenix Suns are sucking. They have been dropping games left and right. Well, what am I supposed to do? Put all my hopes and dreams on an NBA championship on Michael Beasley? Even the Minnesota Timberwolves gave up on that guy.
2. I wish Coach Richard del Rosario joins the De La Salle University coaching staff.
It is well known that the biggest problem that the Green Archers have is their free throw shooting. Since Coach Richard and CSB are no longer together, who better to teach DLSU some charity stripe action than the owner of Coach Richard del Rosario’s Free Throw Shooting School?
3. I wish Earl Thompson becomes the next Calvin Abueva.
The kid has got the skills to be the next big thing in the NCAA. The new triple-double king could be Earl Thompson. He could be a future top pick in the draft if he just keeps at it. Now, we just need to get this kid a really good nickname.
4. I wish both of the semifinals and the finals all go seven games. No matter who will be playing.
This season’s PBA Philippine Cup has been awesome. I just hope that it last forever. Being that that can’t happen, I hope that it stretches out as long as possible. Alaska and Talk N Text? Seven games please. Rain or Shine and San Mig Coffee? Go the distance please.
5. I wish Stephen Curry stays healthy.
I have always been a fan of Steph Curry. From college to the pros, I always thought that he had superstar written all over him. The only thing that has been stopping him has been his damn ankles. This season has been great for him. Healthy and tearing it up on a regular basis. I just want it to go for all 82 games and then some with the playoffs. Plus, I got him on a fantasy team.
6. I wish Kevin Alas goes back to Letran.
His damn might be done with Letran, but I seriously hope that Kevin Alas isn’t yet. Probable new head coach Caloy Garcia could make this kid go insane on the league next season. The only sad part is that Garcia, also an assistant at Rain or Shine, won’t be having Jun Alas. Could be the start of the Junior division of the Extra Rice. Though Raymond Almazan could use some carbs.
7. I wish SMART-Gilas gets someone like Serge Ibaka as their new naturalized player.
JaVale McGee is no longer an option for SMART-Gilas so it is time to look for a new naturalized player. The first name that comes to mind is Denzel Bowles. He has the size, the offensive capabilities, and he has a little familiarity with some of the players. Another would be Kobe Bryant. This is because he is Kobe.
8. I wish the Talk N Text vs Petron rivalry gets a reboot.
Still one of my favorite rivalries in modern PBA history. There was so much bad blood that it made the Tupac and Biggie feud look like an episode of Face to Face. The pieces in the rivalry might be different, these two teams still don’t like each other. I just don’t know if Coach Norman Black and Coach Olsen Racela would engage in a war of words.
9. I wish Ginebra can get a dominant big man.
I feel for the Ginebra fans. I know how bad it must feel to see their team not be in the semis yet again. They are just one player away from going back to the dominant force that they were a couple years back. And that piece is a real solid big man. Someone in the realm of Greg Slaughter. Oh wait, that would be perfect.
10. I wish the UP Fighting Maroons become a Final Four team.
Again, another team that I can feel for. The prospect of having the bank of MVP pushing them forward was almost there. They could’ve been the new Ateneo but it just didn’t happen. I hope that they can get a steal on a recruit and make themselves an upper tier team.
11. I wish the Lakers start winning. Winning for Steve and Mike D’Antoni.
They left my Suns to win. They both aren’t winning. Please give them the ring that they deserve.
12. I wish that I can keep doing what I’m doing for a very long time.
I love my work. I love that my work is basketball at it finest. I get to talk about it on my radio show on Magic 89.9. I am blessed to be a part of the AKTV family and be on a great broadcast of college and professional basketball. And I cherish being a part of the #SLAMFam. It has always been my dream to be doing exactly what I’m doing right now. I just pray to the high heavens that it will never stop.
