EVEN for the man
considered one of the most physical players in the PBA today, the
fierce Game Three encounter between defending champion Talk `N Text and
Alaska Wednesday night was a bit of a shocker.“Grabe `yung laro (kagabi). Tingin ko mas intense at pisikal `yun kaysa sa series namin ng San Mig,” said Rain or Shine tough guy Beau Belga.
The hulking Rain or Shine enforcer admitted having fun watching Alaska and Talk ’N Text players get at each other, but added he has a different mindset when it’s him who’s seeing action.
“Sa totoo lang ang sarap panuorin ha,” Belga said, explaining that Rain or Shine is not a rugged team, as the Elasto Painters play within the borders of allowable physicality.
“Hindi kami ganun kasama (to the point of being violent), pisikal kami, pero alam namin ang hangganan,” said Belga.
The TNT-Alaska series gives Belga an idea of what to expect if and when Rain or Shine reaches the All-Filipino Finals for the first time.
“Kahit sino sa Alaska at Talk N’ Text, ready kami sa pisikalan. Hindi kami uurong,” he said.
The wide-bodied dribbler from Sorsogon however, noted that while he enjoyed seeing physical plays abound during the semifinals, Belga said it was definitely not a show for children.
“Mahirap ipakita sa mga bata `yung ganung klase ng banatan sa hard court. Siguro kung medyo malaki na (his children), gagabayan ko pa.”
The former PCU Dolphin has a 10-month old child, Baby Zach, with wife Queenie.
“Kahit siguro sa game ko, hindi ako papayag na manuod ng walang patnubay ang anak ko, lalo na pag barubalan na,” added Belga.
